Ars Technica is currently running an article that takes a tour of Google's Experimental Search projects. The one that caught my eye was Google timeline. Searched results are returned as normal but at the top of the results is a timeline that charts the volume of results by date. Most Google projects have an open API so if this one makes it out of labs then I'd definitely want to support it.
